NICE FASCINATOR
Thanks! It’s actually a totally KICKASS HAT that I inherited from a costume designer who was retiring and giving away her costume kit.
The anecdotes, oeuvres, fun facts and (apparently) politics of Lindsay Anne Black. Plus some crap I found on the interweb.

Emma Peel. Otherwise known as 30-year-old Diana Rigg. This is one of my favourite scenes in The Avengers, in which they brainstorm by, A) Emma trying to play a tuba, and B) Steed golfing on his coffee table. No wonder I have grown up to be the kind of adult that I am.
Also, it goes without saying that he hits the golfball into the tuba.
(See? Sometimes I play along with memes….)
(The second photo? Oh, that one’s just hot.)
My friend and I spent this past weekend with my mother and stepfather. Among other things, I took lots of photos of my mom’s garden, of which she is very (rightfully) proud. This is one of the closeup shots, which sadly doesn’t communicate the scale of JUST HOW ENORMOUS THESE BLOOMS WERE. I will make a CD of all my shots for her, but I am posting this here for the lovely blanddiva11.
I took the train to Kingston (Ontario) yesterday to meet up with Michelle, and then drive home together. Not just for dinner, (although Phnom Penh is my most favourite restaurant in all the world,) but also because I lived in Kingston for almost 5 years while I went to university. I can’t express how much I love it there. It’s just sad that there will NEVER BE ANY WAY I CAN LIVE THERE EVER AGAIN UNLESS I CHANGE PROFESSIONS TO SOMETHING I HATE OR I RETIRE FOR SOME REASON AND CHOOSE TO LIVE IN A GROUP HOME.
Sometimes working in theatre sucks.
But usually it beats the pants off of what you guys do.
Not that you guys wear pants.
A heart-felt thank you to the jurors for my nomination in the category of Outstanding Original Set Design in Indie Theatre, for Birnam Wood. I am extremely grateful and so very honoured.
I love working with Allyson McMackon and Theatre Rusticle, and I love working with lighting designer Michelle Ramsay. (And not just because she’s my girlfriend.) If this design was at all appealing, it was because collaboration with them is so easy and so exciting. I am grateful to each of them for so many things.
I don’t expect to win, so I’m telling you this now, Internet. I am feeling full of love. And… maybe a little tequila.
Five years ago today, one of my most favourite people in the world passed away unexpectedly. She’s on the right. I think of Karen often, but today I’m writing it down. I wish she were still here; there is just so much going on in the world that she would have loved.
It’s only most days that I wish I were Emma Peel.
